This style of dog tag was issued to US military personnel between 1967 when the notched style tags were phased out and 2015 when the US military stopped issuing debossed tags.

Many parts of the US military continued to use the manual debossing machines up to 2015. While the newer embossers started to be introduced in 1975, older equipment was only replaced when it broke or wore out.

A lot of people favour this style of text as it has more depth to it compared to embossed text.

The case presents the tags really nicely and since they are so well protected, we can fully assemble the tags for you so they are ready to wear when you receive them.

We use an original manual 'Graphotype' debosser to make these tags. The character spacing is fixed at 10 characters per inch. so there is a limitation as to how much text can be included.

Character limits:

The text can be laid out with the hole to the right of the text or to the left depending on what era the tags are replicating. See below for more details on 'TEXT POSITION'

The amount of text is also limited if you want to fit silencers (use 'SILENCERS' drop down box) and have all the text readable.

2 X Stainless steel dog tags debossed with your choice of message.

1 X 69cm (27") Stainless steel neck chain

1 X 11.5cm (4.5") Stainless steel 'toe' chain.

A pair of silencers and a metal gift case are options and there are some chain upgrades available.

The text layout used by the US military differed over the years and varied depending on who they were issued to.

The dog tags have two sides, one side shows the rolled edge and the other is completely flat. Depending on the time the tags were issued and in which service the side of the tag that the text is read from varied. Earlier tags tend to have the text on the flat side and later tags have the text readable from the side with the rolled edge.

Use the 'TEXT POSITION' dropdown box to select which side the text is read from and where the hole is positioned.
